The
Book of Revelation
& The Gospel of
Thomas & The Second Revelation
A side by side Harmony of Books for an Unveiling of the Appearance and the Transfiguration |
The Book of
Revelation Side by Side
with The Testimony
of Jesus In
this study, both
corresponding and contrasting phrases from each column have been
highlighted with
similar
colours to
compare spiritual
with
spiritual.
May we all be strengthened and grow to maturity as we ponder the words
of
Jesus and the related testimony of his apostles. The apostle
John
writes in various ways about a little scroll having the true sayings of
God and
the testimony of Jesus Christ. In John's prophecy, this everlasting
gospel is
the very gospel of Christ and the word of God. It seems to be called
the
scroll
of life, or the message that gives life and is reminiscent of as the
revelation of Jesus Christ which God
gave unto him to shew unto his servants. This little scroll, given by
God, is first
opened by Jesus who then gives it to his servants who then must take it
to the world. The Gospel of Thomas is presented as this original Testimony of Jesus and the little scroll that John is explaining. The Book of Revelation goes into great detail to unveil the prophetic meaning hidden within this little scroll. |
The Second
Revelation also
builds on the sure foundation of "This
Testimony of Jesus," but is more specifically an early
commentary on
The Book of Revelation. By putting all three together a deeper insight
into the
Transfiguration and the Unveiling of Jesus is realized. The colour-coded
comparison
and contrast may also be helpful. Has
the little book, the original
gospel of Jesus, now been given back to us? What could this
mean?
The
surprising implication of this comparative study is that it may suggest
that
"The Book of Revelation" was a vision that John saw while meditating
on the sayings of Jesus... and that this original gospel may be the
scroll
scribed down by Thomas? In turn, the second revelation may provide
helpful insight into how early Christians interpreted John's
writing. When thoughtful
prayerful meditation
upon the words and the sayings of Jesus found in the little scroll are
seen and
understood together with the life, words, and actions of his messengers
and those who followed him, then
these words which are spirit and life may also similarly so move us.
This is
the spirit of prophecy at work. May God
prosper the publication and proclamation of his word among all
nations,
and may God send forth messengers who will walk as he walked. |

Thomas 3 | 2nd Revelation |

3) Jesus said, "If those who lead you say to you, 'See, the kingdom is in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you. Rather, the kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty." |
When You shall come to the earth, what will happen? The heaven and the earth, and the sun and the moon, what will happen to them in those times? Reveal to me all; for I am emboldened, because You listen to Your servant. |

In this book
which you see
there have been
written the things
in the
heaven,
and
the
things
in the earth, and the things in the abyss,
and the

and righteousness of all the human race. And I said: Lord, when shall these things come to pass?
And what do
those times bring?
And I heard a
voice saying to
me: Hear,
righteous John. |
Revelation |
Thomas 10 | 2nd Revelation |
1:16b and his
countenance was as the
sun shineth
in
his strength. 1:17 And when
I saw
him, |

There shall be in that time
abundance of grain and wine, such as there has never been upon the
earth, nor shall ever be until those times come. |
Revelation |
Thomas 11 | 2nd Revelation |
1:17b I fell at
his feet as dead.
And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the
first and the
last: 1:18 I am he that
liveth,
and was dead;
and, behold, I am alive
for evermore,
Amen; and have the keys of hell
and of death. 1:19 Write the things which
thou hast seen,
and the things which
are, and the things
which shall be

of the
seven stars

seven
candlesticks
which thou sawest
are the seven churches. |
11) Jesus said,
"This heaven
will pass
away,
and the one above it will pass away.
The dead
are not alive,
and the living
will not die.
In the
days
when
you consumed
what is dead,
you made it
what is
alive.
When
you come to
dwell in the light,
what
will you do?
On the
day
when you were one
you became two.
But when
you become two,
what
will you do?" |
Then the ear of
grain shall produce a
half chœnix,
and the bend of the branch shall produce a thousand clusters, and the
cluster shall produce a
half jar of
wine; and in the
following year
there shall not be found upon the face of all the earth a half chœnix
of grain or a
half jar of
wine. |
Revelation |
Thomas 12 | 2nd Revelation |
2:1 Unto the
angel
of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars
in his right hand, who walketh
in the
midst of the seven golden
candlesticks; 2:2 I know thy
works, and thy
labour,
and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are
evil: and thou hast
tried
them which say
they are apostles,
and are not,
and
hast
found them liars:
2:3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast
laboured, and hast not fainted. |
12) The
disciples said to Jesus,
"We know that
you
will depart from us.
Who
is
to be our
leader?" |
And again I
said: Lord,
thereafter what will
You do? And I
heard a voice saying to me: Hear, righteous John. |
Revelation |
Thomas 13 | 2nd Revelation |
2:7 He that
hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith
unto the churches; To
him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of
life, which is in
the midst of the paradise of God. |
13) Jesus said
to his disciples,
"Compare me to someone and tell me
whom I am
like."
Simon Peter said to him, "You are
like a righteous
angel."
Matthew said to him, "You are like a wise
philosopher." When Thomas
returned to his
companions, they asked him, "What did
Jesus say to
you?"
Thomas said to them, "If I tell you one of the things which
he told
me, you
will pick up
stones and throw
them
at me;
a fire will
come out of
the stones
and burn you up."
|
Then shall
appear
the
denier, and he who is
set apart in the darkness, who is
called Antichrist.
And again I
said: Lord, reveal to me
what he is
like.
And I heard
a voice saying
to me:
The
appearance
of his face is dusky; the hairs of his head are sharp, like
darts; his eyebrows like
a wild beast's; his right eye like
the star which
rises in the
morning, and the other like
a lion's; his
mouth about one
cubit;
his teeth span long; his fingers like scythes; the print of his feet of
two spans;
and on his face an inscription, Antichrist; |
Revelation |
Thomas 14 | 2nd Revelation |
2:14 But I have
a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine
of Balaam,
who taught Balac to cast a
stumblingblock

14) Jesus said
to them, "If you fast,
you
will give
rise to sin
for yourselves;
and if you pray, you will be condemned;
and if you give alms,
you will
do harm
to your spirits.
When you go
into any land
and walk about
in the districts,
if they receive you, eat what they will
set before you,
and heal the sick among them. For what goes into your mouth
will not defile you, but that which
issues
from your mouth
- it is that which will
defile you." |
he shall
be exalted even to
heaven, and shall be
cast down even to
Hades, making false displays. And
then will I make the heaven brazen, so that it shall not give moisture upon the
earth; and I will hide the clouds in secret
places, so that they shall not
bring
moisture upon
the earth; |
Revelation |
Thomas 15 | 2nd Revelation |
2:18 And unto
the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of
God, who hath
his eyes like unto a flame of fire,
and his feet
are like fine brass; 2:19 I know thy works, and charity, and service,
and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more
than the first. |
15) Jesus said,
"When you see one who
was not born
of woman,
prostrate yourselves
on your faces
and worship him.
That one is
your father." |
and I will command the horns of the wind, so that the wind shall not blow upon the earth. (C.f. Every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men," Ephesians 4:14. |
Revelation |
Thomas 16 | 2nd Revelation |
2:21 And I gave
her space to repent of her fornication;
and she repented
not. |
16) Jesus said,
"Men think,
perhaps, that it is peace
which I
have come to
cast upon the
world. They do not
know that it is dissension
which I have
come
to cast
upon the earth:
fire,
sword, and
war. For there will be
five in a
house:
three
will be against two, and two against three,
the father
against the
son,
and the son against the father.
And they will stand
solitary." (C.f. peace is the making of two into one; i.e. fornication, adultery) |
And again I
said: Lord, and how
many years will he do
this upon the earth?
And I heard a voice saying to me:
Hear,
righteous John. Three
years shall those times be; and I
will make the three
years like three months,
|
Revelation |
Thomas 17 | 2nd Revelation |
2:28 And I will give
him the morning star. 3:3 Remember
therefore how thou hast received
and heard,
and hold fast,
and repent. If
therefore thou
shalt not
watch,
I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt
not
know what hour
I will come
upon thee.
|
17) Jesus
said, "I shall give
you what
no eye
has
seen and what
no ear
has
heard and what
no hand has
touched and what
has never occurred
to the human
mind." |
and the three months
like three weeks,
and the three
weeks like three
days, and the three days
like three hours,
and the three
hours like three
seconds, |
Revelation |
Thomas 18 | 2nd Revelation |

few names even in
The
key of David (The Key into
the Kingdom)

18) The
disciples said to Jesus, "Tell us how
our end will
be."
|
as said the prophet David, His throne have You broken down to the ground; You have shortened the days of his time; You have poured shame upon him. And then I shall send forth Enoch and Elias to convict him;
|
Revelation |
Thomas 19 | 2nd Revelation |
3:10b which
shall come upon all
the world,
to try them
that dwell upon
the earth. |
19) Jesus
said, "Blessed is he who came into
being before he came into
being. If you become my disciples
and listen to
my words,
these
stones will
minister to you.
For there are five trees for you in
|
and they shall
show him to
be a liar
and a deceiver;
and he
shall kill them
at the altar, as said the prophet,
Then shall they offer calves upon Your altar.
And again I said: Lord, and after
that what will
come
to pass? |
Revelation |
Thomas 20 | 2nd Revelation |
3:12b which
cometh down out of heaven
from my God: and I will write
upon him
my new name. |
20) The
disciples said to Jesus, "Tell us
what the kingdom
of heaven
is like."
|
And I heard a
voice saying to
me: Hear, righteous
John. Then all
the human race
shall die, and
there shall
not be a
living man upon
all the earth. |
Revelation |
Thomas 21 | 2nd Revelation |
3:14b the beginning of the creation
of God;
|
21) Mary
said to Jesus, "Whom are your
disciples like?"
|
And again I
said: Lord, after that what will
You do? And I heard a
voice saying to
me: Hear,
righteous
John.
Then will
I send forth
mine angels,
and
that lie upon the cloud;
and they shall
take
the ram's horns
Michael and
Gabriel shall go forth
out of the
heaven
and sound with
those horns,
as the prophet
David foretold, With the voice of
a trumpet
of horn.
And the
voice of the
trumpet
shall
be heard
from the one quarter of the world to the other; and from the voice of
that trumpet
all the earth shall be shaken, as the prophet
foretold, And at the voice
of the bird
every plant
shall arise; |
Revelation |
Thomas 22 | 2nd Revelation |
4:1 After this I looked, and,
behold,
a door was
opened in heaven:
and the first voice which I heard
was
as it were of a trumpet talking with me;
which said, Come up hither,
and I will shew
thee
things which must
be hereafter. (C.f. I was
in
the spirit with the inside
Thomas
22b.) |
22) Jesus saw infants
being suckled.
He said to his disciples, "These
infants
being
suckled
are
like
those who
enter the kingdom."
Jesus said
to them, "When you make the two
one, and when you
make the
inside like the
outside
and the
outside
like
the inside,
and the
above like
the below,
and when you make the male and the female
one and the
same, so that the male not be male nor the female female;
and
when you fashion eyes
in
the place
of an eye,
and a
hand
in
place
of a hand,
and a foot in
place of
a foot, and a likeness
in
place of
a
likeness;
then will you enter
the kingdom." |
that is, at
the voice
of the archangel all
the human race
shall arise. |
Revelation |
Thomas 23 | 2nd Revelation |
4:11 Thou art worthy,
O Lord,
to receive glory and
honour and power:
for
thou hast
created all things,
and
for thy pleasure
they are and
were
created.
|
23) Jesus
said, "I shall choose
you, one out of a
thousand, and two
out of ten
thousand, and
they shall stand
as a single
one." |
In the resurrection what
like shall they
arise? |
Revelation |
Thomas 24 | 2nd Revelation |
5:1 And I saw
in the right hand of him that sat
on the throne
a book
written within
and on the
backside, sealed with
seven seals. |
24) His
disciples said to him, "Show us the
place where you
are, since it is necessary
for us to seek it."
|
And I
heard a voice
saying to me:
Hear, Righteous John.
Just as the bees
are, and differ
not one from
another, but are all
of one appearance
and one size,
so also shall
every man be
in the resurrection. |
Revelation |
Thomas 25 | 2nd Revelation |
5:5 And one of
the
elders saith unto
me, Weep not: behold,
the Lion
of
the tribe of
Juda, the Root
of David,
hath
prevailed
to open
the book,
and to loose the seven seals
thereof. |
25) Jesus said, "Love your brother like your soul, guard him like the pupil of your eye." |
There is
neither fair, nor
ruddy, nor black, neither
Ethiopian nor different
countenances; |
Revelation |
Thomas 26 | 2nd Revelation |
5:6 And I
beheld, and, lo, in
the midst
of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst
of the elders, stood a Lamb
as it had
been slain,
having seven horns and seven eyes,
which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into
all the earth. |
26) Jesus said,
"You see
the mote in
your
brother's
eye,
but you do not see
the beam
in
your own
eye.
When you cast the beam
out
of your own eye,
then you will
see
clearly
to cast
the mote from
your brother's
eye." (C.f. Eye
and see are
mentioned seven times, or the seven
eyes) |
but they shall all arise of one
appearance and one stature.
All
the human race
shall arise without
bodies, |
Revelation |
Thomas 27 | 2nd Revelation |
5:9b and hast
redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and
tongue, and people,
and nation;
5:10 And hast made us unto
our God kings
and priests: and
we shall reign
on the earth. |
27) <Jesus
said,> "If you do not fast as regards the world,
you
will
not find
the kingdom.
If you
do not observe the Sabbath
as a Sabbath, you will not see
the father." |
as I told you
that in the resurrection they neither
marry nor are given
in marriage,
but are as
the
angels
of God. |
Revelation |
Thomas 28 | 2nd Revelation |
5:12 Saying
with
a
loud
voice,
Worthy is the
Lamb that was
slain to receive
power,
and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and
blessing. |
28) Jesus
said, "I took my
place in the midst
of the world,
and I appeared to them
in flesh.
I found all
of them intoxicated;
I found none of them thirsty. And my soul
became
afflicted for the
sons of men,
because they are blind in
their
hearts and do not
have
sight; for empty they came into
the world,
and empty too they seek to leave the world. But for the moment
they are intoxicated. When
they shake off
their
wine, then they
will
repent." |
And again I
said: Lord, is
it possible
in that world
to recognise each
other, a brother his
brother, or a friend his friend, or
a father
his own children,
or the children
their own parents?
And I heard a voice saying to me: Hear,
John. To
the righteous
there is recognition,
but
to the
sinners not at
all; |
Revelation |
Thomas 29 | 2nd Revelation |
6:1b Come
and see. |
29) Jesus said, "If the flesh came into being because of spirit, it is a wonder. But if spirit came into being
because of the body,
it is a wonder of wonders. Indeed, I am
amazed
at how this
great wealth
has made its home in
this
poverty." |
they cannot in the resurrection recognise each other. And again I John said: Lord, is there there recollection of the things that are here, (C.f. Is there recognition even in the image and poverty of the penny?) |
Revelation |
Thomas 30 | 2nd Revelation |
6:8 And I
looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell
followed with him.
And power
was given
unto them
over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger,
and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. |
30) Jesus
said, "Where there are
three gods,
they
are gods.
Where there are
two
or
one,
I am with
him." |

And I heard
a
voice saying to
me: |

given unto every
one of them;
and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little
season, until their fellowservants
also and
their brethren,
that should be killed
as they were,
should be fulfilled. |
31) Jesus said,
"No prophet is
accepted in
his
own village;

Hear, righteous John.
The
prophet
David speaks,
saying, I
remembered
that we are
dust: |

Thomas 32 | 2nd Revelation |
6:13 And the stars
of
heaven fell
unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs,
when she
is shaken of a mighty wind. |
32) Jesus
said, "A city being
built on a high mountain
and fortified
cannot
fall,
nor can
it
be hidden." |
as for man,
his
days
are
as |
Revelation |
Thomas 33 | 2nd Revelation |
6:16 And said to the
mountains and rocks,
Fall
on us,
and hide us
from the face of him that sitteth on the
throne,
and from the wrath of the Lamb: |
33) Jesus
said, "Preach from your
housetops that which

The Addendum The Original
Gospel Received by
Jesus Christ https://takethescroll.blogspot.ca The basis of
this side by side comparison of scripture was the realization that the
Gospel scribed by Thomas could be the original Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The foundational writings of the New Testament, and many other early
writings all seemed to be building upon this chief cornerstone
of the Testimony
of Jesus. Once the
connections and wordplay between the texts were recognized, the many
canonical references to "The
Gospel of Christ", "The
Testimony of Jesus", "The
Doctrine of Christ", "His
Sayings", "The
Preaching of Jesus Christ", "The
Gospel of God", "The
Word of God", "The
Revelation of Jesus Christ", "The
New Covenant", "The
Everlasting Gospel", and "The
Gospel" could then be seen as direct
references, and even veiled references to this original gospel"
|
Thomas introduces this gospel as “the secret sayings of the living Jesus.” Though presented openly to all who might listen, this gospel appears to be a more spiritually-minded message with hidden insights for those who will seek diligently and is tailored primarily for those who forsake all to follow Christ. It seems like
Jesus delivered this "Original
Gospel" to those closest to him, and
to those who walked with him in His Way. Later, writers like
James, Paul, Peter, and John appear to create their own
letters following the pattern provided to them by Jesus within
this gospel. The New Testament can be seen as the apostles applying
this Preaching
of Jesus Christ to the circumstances
of their own communities. Later writers used the testimony
of Jesus and the apostles to share their own
insights. May we rightly
divide the scriptures, give attendance to reading, and meditate upon
the words of Jesus that our profiting may appear to all. URfriend, Dean
