The Gospel Of Thomas Chiastic Pyramid Structure.

The Chiastic structures in Thomas can be represented by the picture on the left.

The outer female triangle represents the female chiastic structure climaxing at Logion 55. The inner male triangle represents the male chiastic structure climaxing at Logion 51

At a simple level these two chiastic triangles represent the joining of the Jews (the female) with the Gentiles/Gnostics (the male) into the One New (Male) Man. This Joint body Chiasm is represented by the pyramid.

The Pyramid is divided up. Like a sword locked in a stone piercing through the divisions, the upper triangle is the Keystone, containing the key of knowledge. It is the stone (or message) which the builders rejected and is become the head of the corner, Mark 12:10.

At the top of this keystone is the Staurogram in Thomas Logion 55 at the climax of the Chiastic Pyramid. The Staurogram is a combination of two Coptic letters Tau (T) and Rho (P). The Tau can be male and the Rho female. It looks like an Egyptian Ankh. Joined together these letters symbolize the perfect man. This is pictured by the Tau-Rho Cross within the Circle. This is an image of a perfectly completed man hanging on a cross suspended above the world looking down on the earth with perfect understanding.

Just as the Chiastic Pyramid can represent the joining and completion in the physical world, so also the circle can represent the joining and completion in the heavens. We are looking for a new heavens and a new earth, 2 Peter 3:13, Revelations 21:1.

The circle represents the heavens, and the pyramid the earth. The completed pyramid is the new earth. The heaven is female. Just as The Jewish people are represented by the female chiasm of the earthly pyramid, so also the Jerusalem which is above is presented as female. Paul writes "Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all," Galatians 4:26. And again as a female, I (John) saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband, Revelation 21:2.

This Bride (the heavens) are joined with a New Earth (which is male). This New Earth is created by the joining of the female chiasm with the male chiasm creating of twain One New Man.

Of the Female Jesus said, "I myself shall lead her in order to make her male, so that she too may become a living spirit resembling you males. For every woman who will make herself male will enter the kingdom of heaven," Thomas 114.

For Jesus said, "When you make the two one,
and when you make the inside (chiasm) like the outside (chiasm)
and the outside like the inside,
and the above (sphere) like the (pyramid) below,
and when you make the male and the female one and the same
(when the inner and outer Chiasms and
the above sphere and the below pyramid are one and the same),
so that the male not be male nor the female female... then will you enter the kingdom," Thomas 22.

At the center of the inner triangle, hidden within the veil, within the Pyramid is the Bridal Chamber, the holy of holies where the male and the female are perfectly joined together. This male and the female coming together is a picture of a holy marriage.

"This is a great mystery," Ephesians 5:32.

The Egyptian Mysteries In Thomas?

The circle on the left is a zodiac divided into the twelve constellations of the heavens. The Ankh is an ancient cross and/or beam with the head of a man. It is the "key of life". As the sun travels through the signs of the zodiac so also the ankh is the symbol of a living man or a living body on his journey through the heavens, and through the various stages of life.

This is astrotheology. It is a picture of an illuminated man with a face shining like the sun traveling amongst the constellations of the sky. The sun (the face of the man) is in the sky (the larger circle).

This ankh, having a face shining with illumination, may remind some readers of pictures of the Christ with his face back-lighted and orbed with the brightness of the sun. Others may picture the pupil (the sun in ankh) in the Iris of the eye (the zodiac of the sky), or the all seeing eye over the pyramid.

Jesus said, "Love your brother like your soul, guard him like the pupil of your eye." Jesus said, "You see the mote in your brother's eye, but you do not see the beam in your own eye. When you cast the beam out of your own eye, then you will see clearly to cast the mote from your brother's eye," Thomas 25-26

The Pyramid is thought to be a location where the mysteries were performed, making the two into one.

The Flesh is the female. It is the weaker vessel, 1 Peter 3:7. The spirit is the Male. It is willing, Matthew 26:41. Fulfilling these mysteries Christ is come in the flesh, 1 John 4:2. There is a resurrection, a bright light and a new spiritual body within the chamber, Act 26:13, 1 Corinthians 15:44.

Jesus said, "I myself shall lead her in order to make her male, so that she too may become a living spirit," Thomas 114. And so Paul says, "We know no man after the flesh," 2 Corinthians 5:16.

The animal forces are consumed and transformed into positive creative energy.

The Sphinx is reminiscent of a human lion. Make the two into one. Jesus said, "Blessed is the lion which becomes man when consumed by man... and the lion becomes man." The principle is that lower kingdoms when consumed become a part of the higher kingdoms and are transformed. There is one God and Father of all. God is a man-eater, Gospel of Philip. All things are from Him, through Him and to Him, Rom 11:36.

The destructive earthly animal drives can be transformed into creative spiritual energies. And the lion shall be transformed and shall lay down with the lamb. And Heaven and Earth shall be one.

Even the female heavens above are transformed by the perfected male pyramid below and the two become one. You are the temple of God and the kingdom of Heaven is within you.

The Holy Grail in The Gospel of Thomas?

This is an image of the Holy Grail symbolically portrayed in a manner
consistent with the Chiastic Structures of The Gospel of Thomas.

The female cup which is the above holds the body and the blood of the Christ. The life is in the blood and so this is the living body of Christ in the heavens. Both the cross and the wafer symbolize the spiritual body of the "Son of Man which is in heaven," John 3:13.

Just as the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden, so also the key of knowledge is hidden, Luke 11:52, Colossians 2:3.

The hollow base of the Chalice is similar to the pyramid structure of the previous images. The inner male and outer female are now joined together to create one new man, the church, or the body of Christ. We, the united church, the new man, are his flesh and his bones visually depicted by the base of the chalice on the earth. Past the veil, within the hollow of the base is the bridal chamber where this new man is conceived.

The lower kingdom on the earth is changed through the eating of the heavenly bread and the wine, which is made into the body and blood of the Christ. This is the bread that comes down from heaven. The lower kingdom is elevated, and translated into the higher kingdom. The kingdom of God's dear son, Colossians 1:13. The outward form remains the same, just as the bread and wine still appear to be bread and wine, but the substance is changed, there is a new body, a spiritual body. A new man is created. This is also a transubstantiation.

On the wafer, the Christ is depicted as on the Cross (the tree) in the heavens. Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree, Galatians3:13. The wafer is eaten. "Cursed is the man whom the lion consumes, and the lion becomes man," Thomas 7.

This is the bread that comes down from heaven. If anyone eats this bread he will
live forever. And so we are changed to be like him, 1 Corinthians 15:51.

Helpful Imagery

	To the Left and Above: Turn The Staurogram sideways and notice the key. There is: A Key of Life. A Key of Knowledge. And Keys to the Kingdom. There is a key unlocking the meaning to the Gospels and the New Testament? Step by step there is a reconciliation of two into one until all is reunified: First the natural then that which is spiritual, 1 Corinthians 15:46. There is a marriage of the Male and Female on every level of reality. There is a Reconciliation of All. On earth and in heaven. This is the key message. The Chalice reminds us of Jesus, Savior of Men: IHS. The Staurogram of the the heavens. The Universe is joined as one. This universal transubstantiation also happens in the twinkling of an eye, when we see him as he is, when we take the mote out of our own eye to See clearly, when the beam is removed from the eye, and the judgment stops, and the cycle of suffering is completed. This may evoke images of the All-Seeing-Eye of the pyramid bringing an end of the ankh's (or the beam's) cyclical and repetitious journey through the zodiac A similar Chalice also appears in the Jewish star placed in a circle. Just like the message of the chalice the two triangles can also represent the union of male and female. The circle envisions the universe.
	The Serpent eating its own tail was known in ancient Egypt as the Ouroboros. In Gnosticism, "this serpent symbolized eternity and the soul of the world." Plato described "a self-eating, circular being as the first living thing in the universe - as an immortal, mythologically constructed beast", saying "the universe was created without legs and without feet." This is reminiscent of one recent conception of the universe as being donut shaped. In Norse mythology a son is born with the image of a white snake in one eye. "This snake encircled the iris and bit itself in the tail, and the son was named Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye." This might be reminiscent of ancient Egyptian lore where the Zodiac can be the Iris of the All-Seeing-Eye over the Pyramid. In Mithran mystery cults "the figure of Mithra being reborn... is sometimes seen wrapped with an Ouroboros, indicating his eternal and cyclic nature." In the Hindu faith the Ouroboros has also been used to describe the Kundalini energy traveling along the spine. In the Hebrew scriptures Moses called the people of Israel to look to the serpent of brass upon the pole to be healed, Numbers 21:8-9. The brass serpent was made from a metallurgic combination of tin which is the female and copper which is the male. Jesus compared himself to this brass serpent on the cross when he said, "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up," John 3:14-15. Look to this serpent. This is Christ's message of Salvation. In the Gospel of Thomas Chiastic Pyramid structure the Ouroboros, as the circle of the heavens, is wrapped around the Tau-Rho Staurogram. Look to the cross in the sky. Like a scroll or "body of text" wrapped around the spine of the Staurogram, and carried like a cross on the back, the Ouroboros is rich with meaning, Wikipedia Ouroboros.
	The Ankh has been a symbol of life, of the body and of healing. It can be a picture of heaven above and earth beneath. The Ankh in the zodiac can function as an astrological calendar. As the earth and sun move through the heavens, the spine of the Ankh, like an arrow, can point through the face of the sun toward the Zodiac constellation that the Sun blocks from the earth's field of view. The Ankh can also picture the all seeing eye over the pyramid. The All-Seeing-Eye looks down upon the earth with perfect understanding. This is the portrait of the man hanging from a thread in the heavens above the earth on a cross. This is reminiscent of the encircled Staurogram in the the Gospel of Thomas Chiastic Pyramid structure. It may also suggest images of Christ and Judas suspended above the earth hanging from the tree, Acts 5:30, Matthew 27:5. When with perfect understanding we join heaven and earth, the above and the below, the inner and the outer, the male and the female, then this may be illustrated with the all seeing eye within the pyramid within the zodiac. At this point we are no longer having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of ignorance, because of the blindness of the heart, being past feeling, given over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. For you have not so learned Christ, Ephesians 4:18-19.
	The tales of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Tables bring to mind pictures of a Round Table, Excalibur or the sword in the stone, the holy grail, and the successful destruction of the serpent or dragon. The round table is reminiscent of the circle of the zodiac, of the journey of life, and of the heavens. The sword in the stone suggests the Staurogram in the Keystone. It is a sword that pierces the soul to the very division of soul and spirit, cutting through and revealing the divisions we have created, Hebrews 4:12, Luke 2:35. However, only the worthy can pull the sword from the stone. Jesus said, "It is to those who are worthy of my mysteries that I tell my mysteries” Thomas 62. The slaying of the dragon (the Ouroboros) suggests the successful release from the eternal cycle of suffering. The discovery of the message of the holy grail or the communion cup may be the effect of this page if the seeker is so inclined to search.
	The modern Unitarian Universalist Logo is an interesting symbol subtly uniting together as one, though perhaps not intentionally, the images of the chalice, ankh, sun, all seeing eye, zodiac, cross, staurogram, communion wafer, and the ouroboros. Notice how the Native American dream catcher looks a lot like a man. The body is the image of the universe from the most micro to the most macro. This is the reality of most of the images on this page. Know thyself was the relevant and noteworthy inscription found in the pronaos of the ancient Temple of Apollo at Delphi. The all seeing eye on the American Dollar needs no introduction and is familiar to all. The Sun rises over the pyramid, (below). "Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light," Ephesians 5:14

The Anchor of Hope.

Christ is all and In All and Ye are Complete in Him.

With a little imagination the staurogram and the serpent can be seen wrapped around the spine of the anchor. The anchor is used to provide stability to the vessel in stormy weather. There is a redemption of the purchased possession, Ephesians 1:14, Rom 8:23.

Christ is come in the flesh, the hope of glory. "Which [hope] we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil," into the holy of holies, the bridal chamber, Hebrews 6:19. Completing, fulfilling, and perfecting that which we are and learning to become.

Christ is come in the flesh, but we are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, and our life is hid with Christ in God, Romans 8:9, 1 John 4:2, Colossians 3:3.

Found at the peak of the keystone of the pyramid is the message of amalgamation, completeness, perfection, and oneness realized in the reconciliation and the holy marriage. This is the climactic message of the Gospel of Thomas. Jesus said: "Whoever does not... take up his CROSS (the Staurogram, the Tau-Rho male-female amalgamation) in my way will not be worthy of me," Thomas 55.

Throughout the waves and difficulties in life we look to the harmony and reconciliation of all things promised by the earnest of our inheritance, Christ come in the flesh. Rather than retaliating in reaction to rejection and suffering we seek peace and pursue it. Tempted as we may be to pray, "Take this cup (this female body) from me", instead we take up the cross (with this completed, united and perfected body) and we follow Christ in the way of peace, Colossians 1:20, Ephesians 1:14, 1 John 4:2, Romans 14:19, Mark 14:36, Matthew 10:38.

Christ leads. We follow. And we carry the body with us.
